MEMSYS invited to Fraunhofer IIS

This month, MEMSYS had the pleasure of being invited by Peter Spies to visit Fraunhofer IIS in Nuremberg.

Fraunhofer IIS, part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, is Germany’s largest institute for applied research. Renowned for its groundbreaking innovations—such as the development of the MP3 and AAC audio compression standards—Fraunhofer IIS specializes in microelectronics and information technology systems.

The visit began with a presentation from our team on the latest advancements in energy harvesting technology, where we shared our current progress and prototype developments. In return, the Fraunhofer team showcased their own energy harvesting projects. The exchange of ideas was dynamic and truly inspiring.

We then toured their state-of-the-art labs, witnessing firsthand the testing of their energy harvesting technologies. It was exciting to spot familiar tools and methods in action, and the conversations that followed were both technical and thought-provoking. Speaking with individuals who are not only experts in their fields but also deeply passionate was a real highlight of the visit.

Fraunhofer’s interest in MEMSYS is a strong signal of the traction we’re gaining in the energy harvesting space. Being invited not just for a visit, but for in-depth discussions, idea exchange, and lab tours reflects the momentum of our progress and the relevance of our innovations.

We left the visit more than inspired—we left aligned. Fraunhofer IIS’s recognition and interest validate our direction, and we’re excited to explore what we can build together, particularly around IoT and next-generation energy solutions.

A big thank you to Peter Spies and the entire Frauhofer IIS team for the warm welcome and insightful exchange. We look forward to what the future holds!
