Sander Kooiman, Product Manager

I like building things. Not just because it’s fun (it is), but because I believe that real impact happens when great tech meets real-world needs.

At MEMSYS, I get to live right in the middle of that sweet spot: exploring deep tech while staying grounded in creating actual, usable products. I love bouncing between the R&D-prototype-product-customer loop—pushing ideas forward, testing them, asking questions that slow things down (in the best way), and ultimately turning them into something that works and matters.

Creating products is what gives me energy. Sometimes literally (hello, energy harvesters), but also just in the pure joy of doing meaningful work. I’m most in my element when I’m diving deep into the technical details; designing, fabricating, testing—but always with the drive to explain it to anyone curious enough to ask. Because tech should never live in a black box.

What drives me is creating products that don’t just work—they deliver real value to the people using them. I’m always thinking beyond the tech itself: What problem are we actually solving? Does this make someone’s job easier, their system more efficient, or their footprint lighter? For me, building isn’t just about functionality—it’s about unlocking new possibilities. That’s also why I’ve always had this entrepreneurial itch. I don’t just want to build products—I want to shape ideas into something people genuinely need, use, and get excited about. Whether it’s a new energy harvesting system or a tool that scales smarter, I get the most energy when there’s a clear line between what we make and why it matters.

What drives me is simple: I want to build things that are scalable, smart, and maybe even a little bit magical. And hey—if they can save batteries while we’re at it, even better.

Let’s keep building cool stuff.
